Manager of Regional Transportation

Job Summary:

As a Manager of Regional Transportation, you will be responsible for multiple transportation teams nationally. Leading all aspects of the logistics management function to control, deliver, and distribute merchandise to its destination. Implement an overall strategy, metrics, and processes to deploy an optimized logistic network and operations supporting the overall goal of the department and company. Applying analytics to supervise and measure performance to help to identify challenges within operations. You will also be encouraged to develop your teams through the process of prioritizing, crafting, and implementing creative solutions.

 

Position supports HomeGoods and HomeSense Distribution Centers located in Bloomfield, CT, Carteret, NJ and Jefferson, GA.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

  • Leads through others (Transportation Managers/Supervisors) and reviews designs, runs, and plans for crossdock and store deliveries while including transportation optimization, return logistics and peak season strategies
  • Crafts, implements, and reviews operational performance against established critical metrics and budget, performs rooting-cause analysis as needed, and builds vital action plans to manage performance
  • Identifies and leads implementation of optimization and process improvement initiatives, driving service enhancement and cost savings (i.e. dedicated fleet optimization)
  • Drives Peak Season plans/strategies and execution to support the challenging needs of the business
  • As a member of the DC leadership team, accountable for handling yard staffing, scheduling, and usage as well as supporting multiple buildings with all inbound and outbound transportation responsibilities
  • Interacts with executive leadership cross functional departments to ensure overall execution of service / standards increases TJX profitability
  • Manages, coaches, and mentors’ direct reports and develops them for future growth within the function and organization
  • Leads all aspects of performance and professional development of Associates within their defined region’s Distribution Centers
  • Is responsible for continuous improvement initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or related job experience
  • 7-10 years proven track record in an operations / transportation environment, with 4+ years of leadership experience
  • Operational acumen
  • Supply chain expertise, including Off-Price Model
  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to influence without authority
  • Excellent communication skills, Excellent managerial skills, Strong social skills
  • Metrics, process, and efficiency focus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Validated ability to mentor and develop talent
  • Continuous Improvement
