Web Development Manager (.Net)

 

 

This position includes 20-25% travel to Cheyenne, WY and Ft. Collins, CO

 

Major Duties/ Responsibilities

 

  • Provides delivery, technical and management oversight for all activities within their area of responsibility or domain, working with staff to resolve and overcome delivery/technical issues and impediments as needed.
  • Validates sizing/estimates for projects and activities in assigned domain.
  • Oversees a project portfolio that addresses business and technical needs, achieving ‘On Time’ and ‘On Budget’ targets and customer scope and quality targets.
  • Ensures projects are properly sequenced based on business priority, dependencies, and team capacity; assigns resources to projects and other work assignments; manages demand versus capacity gaps and resource contention issues.
  • Ensures that standards and best practices are published, maintained, and enforced.
  • Reviews and approves all applicable project documents and deliverables.
  • Acts as the primary contact point for escalations within domain.
  • Manages respective disciplines throughout the life cycle; identifies areas of opportunity for improvements, simplification, and rationalization; ensures applications are maintained and serviced
  • Participates in the creation and maintenance of application/product roadmaps in assigned domain.
  • Monitors solution delivery performance metrics, measures, and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to ensure quality and operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Monitors performance domain Service Level Agreement’s (SLAs), and inputs into / participates in service reviews with business.
  • Conducts performance appraisals of staff and provides career guidance though regular coaching.

 

Decision Making

 

  • Responsible for decisions that directly impact project timelines and budgets.
  • Responsible for decisions related to application lifecycle management.
  • Recommends, implements, and maintains techniques and standards used in area of responsibility.
  • Assigns work group resources to projects and other activities, leveraging third party resources when appropriate.
  • Recommends hire/fire, training, development, and disciplinary actions for subordinates.

 

Span of Control (i.e. Direct/Indirect reports)

  • Will have up to 4-10 direct and/or 5-25 indirect reports.
  • Will manage senior individual contributors.

 

Scope of Responsibility     (i.e. Financial impact)

 

  • Manages associate compensation budget to plan for assigned team.
  • Accountable for managing to Professional Services budget for assigned deliverables.
  • Accountable for managing project budgets for projects aligned to assigned domain
  • Participates in recommendations associated with the use of third parties for resource/service and software needs; reviews SOWs related to third party services

 

Skills/Knowledge

Minimum formal education, if any, required to perform this job e.g., Bachelor's Degree in

Accounting, Law Degree).

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience

 

Minimum job skills required to perform this job (for example: programming languages, strong

interpersonal skills, computer software packages).

 

  • At least 2+ years in a leadership/management role
  • 6-8 years of experience in web application development.
  • 6-8 years of experience in designing and developing web-based solutions using Microsoft technologies such as ASP.Net, C#, MVC, ADO.Net, Web API’s, SQL Server, 3rd party controls, and IIS.
  • Experience with Javascript and Javascript such as jQuery, Backbone, require.js etc.
  • Experience in building eCommerce websites (front-end & back-end) preferred
  • Experience in eCommerce domain preferred
  • Experience with build automation tools like Team
    City: , Jenkins, etc.
  • Understanding of software development life cycle.
  • Understanding of user experience (UX) concepts as they pertain to eCommerce websites.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies
  • Proven ability to collaborate with and drive cross-functional and interdepartmental teams
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to engage as a player and coach as necessary.

 

Minimum experience required to perform this job.

  • 6-8 years of web application development with focus on eCommerce
  • 2+ years of management experience in application solution development and solution delivery
  • Experience in managing complex web application eco-systems.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
