Job Summary:

  • Performs various accounting functions that relate to the monthly, quarterly and annual close and reconciliations for all sales related accounts for TJ Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods and to ensure the integrity of the accounts.
  • Prepares key financial management reports, analyzes trends associated with these accounts, and summarizes key points to Executive Management, planning and accounting groups.
  • Develops the annual plan for all sales related accounts. Reviews the plan monthly and prepares and submits the Rolling Plan for usage and rate trending changes on each account.
  • Prepares all ad-hoc analyses as required for all four chains and provides guidance on trending and forecasting.
  • Partners with Systems to resolve issues affecting financial records and to develop, test and implement future enhancements and new business requirements as related to specific responsibilities.
  • Documents procedures and systems to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Recommends changes to improve the financial affect that Sales Audit processes and/or procedures have on related accounts.
  • Trains associates as required.


Major Areas of Responsibility:


  • Ensures the integrity of sales related accounts, including but not limited to, sales, credit and debit card receivables and expenses, chargeback expense, merchandise credit, gift certificate and stored value card liabilities.
  • Performs monthly, quarterly and annual close functions, including review and reconciliation of sales related P&L and Balance Sheet accounts, including journal entries preparation and researching material variances.
  • Communicates with Business Planning & Analysis and Financial Accounting to provide guidance on potential risks and opportunities.
  • Prepares and distributes several key financial management reports highlighting significant areas for review. Analyzes and prepares Executive Summaries to communicate with Business Planning & Analysis, Financial Accounting and Finance Management on all associated accounts for month, quarterly and year end process. Utilizes advanced system skills to access, download and manipulate data and create effective spreadsheets.



  • Prepares the annual plan for all sales related accounts. Analyzes the accounts on a monthly basis forecasting future months due to trending and industry changes. Communicates changes to Business Planning & Analysis, Financial Accounting and Finance Management.
  • Documents existing systems and procedures to ensure efficiency and accuracy. Partners with the Systems division to develop, test and implement new business initiatives and system enhancements. Communicates and resolves systemic issues with the Systems division as related to the financial data
  • Performs or assists with special projects and analyses as required.


Minimum Requirements Preferred:

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced interpersonal and communication skills
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Solid knowledge of accounting principles
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • 2-3 years experience in account reconciliation and analysis
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
