Meet Stefano

 

Stefano is a Senior Financial Control Analyst in our Finance Department.  He is responsible for supporting the Finance Leadership and Merchandise Planning & Analysis teams, by performing research and conducting and providing complex financial analysis regarding, all aspects of Gross Margin and Inventory for TJX Canada and its banners, namely Winners, HomeSense and Marshalls.

Now, if you were to come on board as one of our Senior Financial Control Analyst, we’d ask you to do the following:

 

Business Analysis:

  • Conducts and documents moderate to complex financial analysis regarding Inventory and Gross Margin as business needs dictate
  • Interprets analysis and provides recommendations to Management
  • Creates & maintains annual and long range plans for Inventory and Gross Margin
  • Creates monthly Gross Margin and Inventory forecasts, including in-depth analysis to interpret and identify risks and opportunities related to Gross Margin components and Inventory
  • Monitors and provides analysis on forex impact on Gross Margin and Inventory
  • Partners with MP&A to understand and quantify risks associated with the company’s Open-To-Buy position
  • Performs data analysis to create and produce reports to support business needs

Project Support:

  • Partners with various project leads to provide financial analysis and quantify impacts
  • Partners with Managers and/or AVPs when analyzing business needs and communicating results
  • Project-manage ad-hoc analysis including coordinating the work of peers
  • Develops complex business models and analysis which facilitate Senior Executives’ decision making
  • Partners with the business to provide financial analysis to enhance internal decision making
  • Scenario plans and evaluates business initiatives

  • Post-secondary education in a related field e.g., Commerce, Economics, Mathematics
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in financial analysis, preferably in Inventory/Gross Margin and in a retail industry
  • Working towards a business related designation e.g., CPA, MBA or equivalent
  • Knowledge in statistical theory and/or Econometric type analysis would be an asset
  • Ability to independently apply expertise of retail accounting and the retail environment to complex projects/business initiatives Self-starter with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, in particular the analysis features of these programs
  • Knowledge of database design/manipulation concepts and proven analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a detail-oriented, multi-project environment while meeting tight and fixed deadlines
  • Ability to work independently; estimate time required to complete projects; follow up on assignments, and keep appropriate team members  informed of progress
  • Customer service skills including efficiently and effectively responding to inquires or resolving any conflicts or problems that might arise
  • Requires minimal direction to perform tasks
