Job Summary

Develops, implements, and maintains various components of the IT security architecture framework and strategy. Provides expert-level advice for security design and planning of enterprise-wide networks, technology infrastructure, middleware, platforms, and applications to ensure appropriate levels of risk. Assesses security architecture to determine areas of vulnerability or flawed design and provides guidance / design changes to address these issues. Defines the "as-is" state of security architecture. In alignment with enterprise architecture and strategic business objectives, implements procedures to migrate security architecture to the desired future state. Implements best practice procedures to ensure a uniform security architecture throughout Application Development, Operations, and Infrastructure. Directs project teams for the implementation of security related initiatives. Identifies opportunities to leverage technology needs throughout the IT organization to enhance levels of security. Partners with key associates and stakeholders to create well-defined solutions in alignment with the security architecture framework. Provides direction on design decisions including solution evaluation and selection, buy vs. build questions, project estimates, platform selection and technical design.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and direction on security architecture solutions and designs
  • Enriches and extends current TJX enterprise information security architecture.
  • Ensures that business strategy, IT enterprise security and implementation are aligned.
  • Gathers technical and business requirements, develops roadmaps and communicates Enterprise Security Technology strategy.
  • Leads, develops, and provides input to technical designs in enterprise security solutions.
  • Supports the definition and selection of enterprise security standards including tools, technology, applications, and processes. Implements solutions as required.
  • Ensures that all models and implementations can be traced to specific business requirements, policies and key principles.
  • Assists in the development of project plans and deliverable lists for proposed projects.
  • Participates in the review and approval of enterprise architecture frameworks and guiding principles.
  • Researches new vendors, technologies and industry best practices.
  • Evaluates relevancy and impact of new security architecture technologies and methodologies.
  • Ensures technical standards, implementations and designs enable business and security requirements.
  • Leads and/or facilitates review of physical security design for solutions in the enterprise.
  • Provides and documents traceability from the security policies to the underlying technology and its use. Assists in evaluation and approval for exceptions to the IT enterprise security architecture framework.
  • Advises, and participates in projects regarding security architecture and technical implementation.
  • Establishes a common language for information architecture within the organization. Provides structure and cohesion across a matrix environment.

Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Requirements analysis and strategic planning experience in a multi-platform environment
  • Expert level knowledge of existing and emerging security technologies
  • Experience designing and implementing security solutions for applications, infrastructure, and networks
  • Experience of making security design decisions with multi million pound impacts on IT budgets and enterprise wide technology security.
  • Strong consulting, leading and mentoring skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Previous experience as a lead architect on multiple large scale projects
  • Security design experience within a large enterprise
  • Strong learning skills
  • Strong business perspective
  • Ability to alter direction easily to accommodate changing priorities
  • Experience in technology and systems design roles
  • Experience in security solution design and security architecture
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS or equivalent work experience.
