Based in our busy creative studio in Watford, the Creative Manager will be esponsible for the design, creation and art direction of a wide range of work for both TK Maxx and its sister brand, HomeSense – both part of the TJX global retail company. Corporate Responsibility projects would also be an area of focus.


This senior creative role, requires an experienced, highly skilled 360, integrated senior designer/art director, who can work proficiently across a wide range of creative projects, that totally engage our customers. Versatility is key. Proficiency in Adobe creative suite is a must and the ability to take ideas across the many social touch points and within our retail experience is wholly essential.

 

The Creative Manager will be accountable for the control, creation and delivery of best in class creative, particularly social content from the creative team for the growing retail brand TK Maxx UK and Germany and Homesense within TJX Europe, part of the Global Retail Company TJX, Inc.
Leading and developing weighty projects on a day to day basis, would be required from a well-rounded, versatile senior creative, who has a very particular skill set. This is an exciting, dynamic, and varied Creative Management role focused on a variety of projects. Social would be at the heart of your experience, you’d have created highly engaging, fun, smart and creative campaigns that have engaged customers and target prospects on numerous social platforms. Whilst not employed for your copywriting skills alone you would have enough copywriting and editing skills, to know how to engage an audience.

 

At other times you could be involved on an ATL print campaigns, Internal Communications, In- Store Signage, New Store Opening Campaigns, Digital Screens and 360 Corporate Responsibility Campaigns.

 

Art Direction skills of a highly polished and accomplished creative within our very specific retail sector, (of fashion, home & CR) is an integral part of this role.

 

This would demand the candidate to be very comfortable working with photography stills and film, storyboarding and directing instore digital screens and of course social campaigns, overseeing retouching and editing for a wide range of TK Maxx, HomeSense and CR projects.

 

This position requires a real hands on approach, an experienced Senior Creative that is keen to get stuck into the design and art direction process from beginning to end. Often working with Managers Of and directing small teams within the department. It will enable the candidate to utilize a wide range of skills, from concepting and storyboarding, directing large scale omni - channel campaign ideas, to churning through the smaller pieces, sometimes in a very short timeframe. 

 

Whilst you will have a reporting line manager, you’ll be perfectly comfortable to work independently across multiple projects, and step in to be the Creative Lead, overseeing projects when necessary. This would also include your ability to liase and nurture our working relationships with our Campaign Marketing partners – and in some cases form close working relationships with certain COEs. You’d be comfortable presenting and networking with these clients to assist in campaign development throughout the year.

 

Reporting into the Manager of Creative, the Creative Manager will play an influential role in developing junior team members, and will have specific responsibility for delivering key elements of creative/whole campaigns throughout the year.

 

The Creative Manager will work closely with The Creative Team and Brand & Marketing partners, ensuring a consistent and optimised Omni-channel approach to all activity across all media and owned channels. Including, but not limited to, working closely with the Brand team, Loyalty, Social Media, PR and Digital Media teams that sit within the Core Brand & Marketing function.


Key Responsibilities

 

Potential creatives must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Outstanding creativity. Our creative is full of personality and flair and so are our team. We love bold, fun creative that never takes it’s self too seriously.
  • Versatility. Experience in designing for a variety of channels. From press ads to digital screens and social campaigns, in-store signage to toilet door signs and everything in between. Adobe Creative Suite is a must but are you able to create exciting animations or edit film? Then we’d love to hear from you.
  • Fashion and retail experience. You’ll get excited about fashion and understand what it takes to get the message through in a busy retail environment.
  • Multitasking. We work in a fast-paced studio environment. You’ve got to be comfortable working on multiple projects at one time, either hands on or overseeing. Life here is never dull!
  • Commercial awareness. You’ll understand the business needs of a large retailer. Getting the message through to our customers… and making it pretty!
  • Outstanding attention to detail. Obviously. And you’ll be able to take your ideas and designs to a high standard of finish.
  • To be able to follow and interpret and give creative direction to ensure that they deliver compelling and differentiating 'on brand' creative on time and in budget.
  • To find inspiring, innovative and creative ways to bring the TJX brands and product categories to life.
  • Working closely with the Manger of Creative to develop and define, differentiating and compelling communications and content.
  • Support the creation and delivery of photographic and content assets to meet then demands of a fast paced retail business.

 

Creative Operations

  • Working with the Creative Resource Manager to define and improve 'creative team' processes, ensuring that they are efficient and integrated.
  • To identify opportunities for continuous improvement of creative processes.
  • Working closely with Ecom designers, Manager of Creative, and Brand & Marketing partners, to ensure a consistent and optimised Omni-channel approach to all activity; brand, Loyalty, Social Media, PR and Digital Media.

 

Team and Relationship Management

  • To embody a positive and creative attitude at all times.
  • To create a positive, supportive and innovative culture within The Creative Team as a whole.
  • To support the development of junior creatives within the team.
  • Work with third party production partners, creative and freelance resources to achieve results.
  • Maintain and develop strong relationships with the TJX Core Brand and Marketing team, E-commerce teams and business functions to help facilitate the TJX omni-channel vision.

 

Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Design professional with qualifications in Graphic design and digital design.
  • Experience of working as part of a creative team as a senior designer for a large retail business.
  • A creative thinker and idea generator with a strong creative eye.
  • Puts the brand and customer at the heart of design development process.
  • Ability to create and deliver to tight deadlines to ensure the timely delivery of daily, seasonal and project works.
  • Experience of working with best practice creative processes.
  • Experience of the end-to-end design process from concept to final artwork delivery.
  • A passion and understanding of photography, art direction and design.
  • Great team player with strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.
  • Some experience in managing third party agencies to deliver results
  • A positive, creative and influential personality.
