Working as part of a team to oversee TJX Customs activities in Europe.  Working closely with the TJX designated Customs brokers to ensure Customs entries are submitted accurately and within the required timelines.  To ensure compliance to UK and EU regulations and audit requirements and develop customs best-practice within the organisation.  To make the business aware of international trade regulations that could impact product sourcing in terms of restrictions and cost.  Assist in the implementation of phased customs controls post-Brexit. 


Key Responsibilities


•    Develop solutions, where applicable, to classify product outside of the recognised classification tool.
•    Apply for Customs BTI’s where there is a doubt around the final product classification.  
•    Oversee the relevant duty preference schemes within the EU.
•    Assist in implementing phased UK customs regulations for controlled goods post-Brexit.
•    Coordinate with the UK & German Customs brokers to ensure product is imported in line with UK/EU regional compliance.
•    Oversee the resolution of queries raised by customs brokers and freight forwarders. 
•    Build strong working relationships with internal and external customs stakeholders.
•    Identify emerging customs changes which may impact the business and relaying effectively to management. 
•    Application of import licenses as required.
•    Play a key role in Customs related projects, working with cross-functional teams.
•    Confident in presenting complex regulations to others in all levels of the business. 
•    Develop and maintain audit program to maintain trade compliance, including customs entry documents, stakeholder KPIs, AEO maintenance, etc. 



Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience


•    Strong knowledge and experience of customs classification.
•    Previous experience of UK and EU customs regulations and procedures (e.g. CFSP/ RGR/ Customs Warehousing)
•    Knowledge of UK/EU preference agreements and associated documentation.
•    Knowledge of import/export food regulations advantageous.
•    Proficient user of Microsoft Office packages, particularly Excel.
•    Highly focused and accurate with a meticulous eye for detail. 
•    Confident team player who works collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders.
•    Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
