This is an exciting new role within our Employee Relations team for a Senior Manager with a strong ER background to input into the TJX Europe employee relations strategy nationally and drive the delivery of the strategy for UK & Ireland stores and UK Distribution functions to create a positive associate relations environment that supports talent development and business growth in line with the culture and values of our business.

 

Key Responsibilities


Strategic partner

  • Input into the TJX Europe employee relations strategy from a UK & Ireland perspective, both in terms of local legislation and functional business objectives and priorities of UK & Ireland Stores, and the UK Distribution function
  • Drive the delivery of the employee relations strategy in the above functions in line with the business objectives and priorities.
  • As part of the employee relations COE become a trusted partner in the development and delivery of effective employee relations solutions to the functional business challenges.
  • Lead case strategy discussions within designated functions and, along with team, provide expert guidance, advice and effective resolution to all employee relations issues in these functions.
  • Partner with functional HR AVPs and key business stakeholders on driving compliance through knowledge-sharing, education, up-skilling, coaching, interventions and continuous improvement. Ensure they are aware of key themes, horizon topics and any contentious cases relevant to their specific business areas
  • Maintain and leverage strong relationships with relevant external organisations and networks to provide insight and thought leadership on topical and emerging issues

 

Design & Delivery of Functional solutions - Subject Matter Expert

  • Design and deliver solutions for issues that emerge from the UK & Ireland Stores and UK Distribution business areas e.g. Flexible working approach in our UK Stores, the approach to temp to perm conversions in UK Distribution
  • Working with the Manager of Policy & Compliance input into the design, and drive the delivery, of policy and supporting tools in the above named functions in line with UK & Ireland legislation and the business objectives and priorities
  • For the UK & Ireland Stores and & Distribution functions take a leading role in the delivery of functional projects and programmes such as the relocation of stores, changes to shift patterns etc…
  • Take a leading role in the delivery of the TXJ Europe labour relations strategy
  • Identify the need, and design interventions based on national and regional themes coming out of cases and ensure case learnings are shared with the relevant HR & functional management populations.
  • Work with the HR Fundamentals Project Manager to take a leading role in the delivery of employee relations related training programmes
  • Act as a subject matter expert on the development and continuous improvement of all employee relations related documents for UK & Ireland Stores and UK Distribution
  • Take a leading role in the delivery of all employee relations initiatives in the above mentioned business functions (interventions and continuous improvement) in line with TJX Europe values and culture
  • Working directly and through team provide effective and timely advice and guidance to the business and its key stakeholders on complex employee relations matters to ensure their effective management
  • Maintain a strong relationship with external vendors to ensure that SLA’s are met and quality services are being provided

 

Team Leadership

  • Manage the ER Advisors effectively to ensure that the business objectives are supported whilst the employee relations strategy is delivered
  • Lead, coach and develop team members
  • Oversight to ensure that the right level of advice, guidance, case support and document production is provided to the business on all employee relations matters (individual and collective)
  • Play an active role within the pan-European Employee Relations management team

 

Governance & Compliance

  • Maintain up to date knowledge on current ER legislation in UK & Ireland and ensure that the Stores & Distribution functions are compliant
  • As part of the ER management team ensure that issues and trends in UK & Ireland are effectively measured, reported on and analysed for intervention or continuous improvement purposes

 

We're looking for someone with significant UK ER experience in retailing environment with a demonstrable record for upward progression, ideally this will have been gained within a global and/or international organisation.  We'd like to hear from people with robust trade union experience including collective bargaining and negotiations.  Your high personal impact and able to gain credibility quickly as well as experience in a fast moving, customer facing organisation will ensure your success in the role.  You should have the ability to take a broad perspective and with your very strong operational skills you will be equally able to manage the big picture but also be comfortable with the detail.
