The Staff Engineer / Senior Engineer within the HCM (Human Capital Management) domain has the knowledge & experience to craft and implement business functionality in their assigned Platform(s)/Product(s)/Product Line(s). They support and be responsible for the technical direction in their product/scrum team and can communicate future plans and direction to technical and non-technical people. This can be at both the executive and end user levels of an organization. Engineers at this level can lead & deliver on assigned Epics in their supported area. They use & build standard methodologies to deliver business value and continue to push their knowledge.


Specific responsibilities include

  • Work with the product/platform/infrastructure/security teams to develop new features and services that are medium-high level of complexity.
  • Works collaboratively with Scrum team to craft, code, test, deploy and support working software/technology components.
  • Responsible for delivering clean, secure, performance code/technology components that meet all the non-functional requirements.
  • Acts in lead Engineer capacity for medium to large initiatives, prioritizing and providing mentorship and resolving issues.
  • Sets up application jobs, builds test data, and supports deployment, all at a medium to high level of complexity.
  • Leads discussions on design approaches to solving transparent, strategic and complex business problems.
  • Works within the Agile methodology and adheres to Sarbanes Oxley compliance and all TJX Company standards as applicable.
  • Leads & participates in Development process definitions, best practices and standards.
  • Rapidly acquires new knowledge and learns new skills; deals effectively with ambiguity by using past experience.
  • Considers the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Maintains broad knowledge in the business applications / services that comprise the HCM domain.
  • Mentors other engineers on the team.
  • Learns and champions DevOps practices.


The Skills and Experience that will Make You Successful

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent Engineering skillset / training / technical work experience
  • 5-8 years of strong experience in the technical design, development, implementation and support of Oracle EBS R12 – HR, Compensation, Benefits, PTO and Payroll
  • Experience with Oracle HR module is required.
  • Additional modules such as Compensation, Benefits, PTO and Payroll are preferred but not required.
  • Expertise in Oracle Configurations / Data flows / APIs / Interfaces (standard & custom) / Patching / Reports / Extensions / Functionality
  • Extensive Oracle SQL, Oracle PL/SQL programming skills
  • Experience working with Linux scripting
  • Experience in using the following tools: Oracle jDeveloper, OA Framework, Oracle Reports and XML Publisher
  • Experience in design and development of Oracle Workflow and AME (Approvals Management Engine)
  • Experience with Oracle EBS Fast Formulas
  • Ability to understand the big picture and the short term perspectives of specific situations.
  • Ability to influence others to achieve results.
  • Strong consulting, leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytic skills.
  • Must collaborate effectively across the IT organization and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively work both independently and within multi-functional teams that span multiple time-zones
  • Experience related to more than one geography (US, EU and CA) within the HCM domain a plus.
  • Ability to alter direction easily to accommodate changing priorities.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and ScrumXP framework.
  • Experienced with Agile tools, such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Exposure to SaaS platforms such as Oracle Cloud and SAP Success Factors a plus.
